Environment & Safety

STOCKMEIER France

Safety of our employees

Ensuring employees’ safety and physical and psychological health is our priority.

STOCKMEIER France has committed to an active policy in terms of health, safety and quality of life at work, ensuring:

  • Safety on all our sites;
  • Good working conditions (in terms of work organisation and content, a working environment that is adapted to physiological needs, and work-life balance, etc.);
  • Quality of life at work and employee satisfaction;
  • Health and safety at work;
  • Active engagement with occupational health services.

STOCKMEIER France ensures that all employees, including temporary workers and subcontractors, are offered safe working conditions in a safe work environment.

.

STOCKMEIER France’s Single Document lists and prioritises risks that could harm employees’ health and safety. It aims to assess occupational risks in order to reduce work accidents and occupational illnesses.

This document is subject to regular reassessment, and, specifically, is reassessed each time a work unit undergoes changes.

.

STOCKMEIER France regularly assesses chemical risks, in particular by carrying out exposure measurement campaigns (air sampling via pumps carried by employees), to verify that concentrations of chemical agents in the workplace respect exposure limit values.

.

Some employees are also subject to biological monitoring of professional exposure to chemical agents (specific blood/urine analysis to detect chemical agents). As carried out by the occupational medicine service, this monitoring allows the company to check for abnormal levels of chemical agents in workers’ bodies.

.

Control of industrial risks

All STOCKMEIER France sites are classified as requiring an environmental impact assessment (French “ICPE” designation) and specific permitting, and, for the most part, are SEVESO-classified facilities. These plants are subject to strict siting and operation rules.

Impact and risk studies carried out as part of the sites’ ICPE permitting process have demonstrated that industrial risks linked to STOCKMEIER France activities are controlled, thus ensuring adequate safeguards for human health, local safety, and environmental protection.

Emergency situations management:

Emergency conduct instructions are defined with regard to all STOCKMEIER France sites. Employees are trained in their implementation upon starting employment, ensuring they are aware of the right behaviour to adopt in the event of an accident, chemical spill, or evacuation.

In addition, some of our employees are trained as Security & Prevention team members in how to react and deploy the appropriate equipment in the event of the most serious emergency situations, such as fires or accidental chemical spills.

.

All sites have an emergency plan, known as an “Internal Operation Plan” (IOP) which specifies, inter alia:

  • Organisation of internal emergency services;
  • Coordination with external emergency services (firefighters);
  • Informing the local community (whether other industrial sites or residents);
  • Communication with the authorities.

SEVESO high-risk sites also benefit from site-specific emergency management plans, known as Special Intervention Plans.

Triggered by the Prefect in the event of a major industrial accident, these plans dovetail with the IOP in addressing the most serious situations.

In the event of a major accident, local populations are alerted via powerful, long range sirens, which are tested once a month.

STOCKMEIERFrance< /span> has also invested in a mass alert system to send large volumes of SMS/phone calls/emails in a short time, and quickly inform local residents close to the sites regarding the behaviour to adopt in the event of an accident.

Site emergency plans are regularly tested, often with the participation of firefighters.

Environmental protection

All STOCKMEIER France sites have been engaged in a longstanding ISO 14001 process, and have been certified for a number of years, subject to an annual audit by an independent expert body.

This certification aims to help us control the environmental impacts of our products and activities.

It is based on a complete environmental analysis carried out every three years on all sites, regarding aspects such as discharge quality (to water, air, and soil), waste (hazardous or not), energy consumption and natural resources, and noise.

Thus, at regular intervals, a site-specific impact inventory is established, on the basis of which annual or multi-annual objectives are drawn up to control and limit environmental impacts.
