Glycerin is a major, multifunctional product, and an ingredient of choice in formulations. Fatty acids provide consistency, are emollient, emulsifying and have surfactant properties. Fatty alcohols ensure emulsions remain consistent and stable. Lastly, esters may have emollient properties (MCT, IPM, IPP) and provide optimal feel and spread. Sorbitan esters are emulsifiers.
